What's the difference between a web address and a domain name?

A web address, like a memorable street address, can help people find you online. If you have a GeoCities Free or GeoCities Plus plan, you'll find your site at a web address that includes a GeoCities domain name plus your Yahoo! ID, written like this: http://www.geocities.com/yourYahoo!ID. To view your site, you or a site visitor will just need to enter your web address in the address bar of a browser.

A domain name is also a web address, but a domain is unique: There can be only one widgetdesigns.com or yahoo.com. When you sign up for a GeoCities Pro or Yahoo! Small Business plan, you'll be able to choose your own free personalized domain name.
